Hundreds of children in Lancashire dressed in pink on Valentine's Day to raise funds for CLIC Sargent in support of Anna, a toddler receiving treatment for cancer.
Valentines' Day fundraiser raises £3,300
Valentine’s Day saw 11 nursery, primary and secondary schools in the Rossendale Valley wearing pink and red to raise money for CLIC Sargent.
The event was organised by 'Team Anna' who are raising funds in aid of three year old Anna who was diagnosed with leukaemia in August 2013.
A massive £3,300 has been raised by staff and pupils who were asked to wear something pink or red and make a donation to CLIC Sargent. Many of the schools also sold the charity’s pin badges for a donation.
All of the schools embraced the pink theme, holding cake sales with pink icing, selling pink roses, making pink artwork and eating pink and red food.
Bryony Walker, a member of 'Team Anna', said: “Seeing all of the children wearing pink and red for Anna was incredibly humbling, it is truly amazing how communities can pull together in times of difficulty”.
All of Anna’s siblings took part in the event as well, their mum was understandably proud to see all four of her children raising money for the charity that is helping them during Anna’s treatment.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Vicki Moore said:
