British Water's 2013 charity golf day took place at Bowood Golf and Country Club, Wiltshire on Thursday 20 June. It was a great success with golfers coming from across the country to attend and help raise money for charities including CLIC Sargent.
Now firmly established in the industry calendar, British Water members and their guests enjoyed a challenging round of golf on the 18 hole championship course. Recently voted one of the UK's top 50 stay and play resorts by Golf Monthly, Bowood Golf and Country Club is iconic amongst golf enthusiasts, with incredible views towards the Wiltshire downs.
A networking dinner followed play. Partners, and others who were not as keen on golf, joined in the celebrations for a three course meal. A prize giving ceremony included competitions from the day such as an 18-hole Stableford competition (with both team and individual prizes), 'nearest-the-pin' and 'longest-drive' competitions.
A raffle was then held to raise money for the three chosen charities on the night. This raised a great total of £1,500 with £500 going to each charity.
Along with choosing CLIC Sargent for their golf day, British Water also decided to raise money at their annual lunch bringing their total for the year to an impressive £1,648.
Jeremy Bayfield, one of the organisers of this years event said: "Everyone enjoyed the golf day and lunch, we were very pleased to be able to donate £1,648 to a charity that supports children and young people with cancer."
Nicola White, Fundraising Manager said: "Thank you to British Water for choosing to support CLIC Sargent at their annual lunch and golf day, they raised a fantastic amount which will really help us to support children and young people with cancer."
