The pupils at Prince Avenue Academy, Southend on Sea, were set the task of learning how to spell 10 words in a sponsored spell to raise funds for CLIC Sargent.
In total 113 pupils took part in the Spell-a-thon and raised a fantastic £3714.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Karen Roberts, said: “The pupils did brilliantly and not only raised an amazing amount for CLIC Sargent but also improved their spelling at the same time.
“We cannot thank the pupils and staff of Prince Avenue Academy enough for their support.”
Mr Hill, Prince Avenue headteacher, who dressed as the lighthouse keeper from the book ‘The Light House Keepers Lunch’ in support of World Book Day, said: “The school was delighted to take part in the CLIC Sargent Spell-a-thon.
“The children took part enthusiastically and our families supported the cause generously.
“I was very pleased with the response and the sum we raised.
“We will certainly do this again.”
