Staff at the South Gloucestershire and Stroud (SGS) College campus based in Filton, Bristol have donated an incredible £1,795.57 to CLIC Sargent, following their successful ‘It’s a Knock Out’ fundraiser held in the summer.
The fundraiser was a college-wide competition incorporating all departments from the Filton and Wise Campus’.
Siobhan Turner, who was on the organising committee for the event, nominated CLIC Sargent as the beneficiary in support of her close friend’s six month old son who is being supported by CLIC Sargent.
Everyone involved fully embraced this fun-filled fundraiser, with 10 teams of eight competing against each other in an afternoon of wacky challenges.
The winning team was the IT department named, the super hard-core IT experts, winning by three points, the public services department took the runner up position.
As well as the competitive tournament, staff also enjoyed music and various stalls including a cake sale, tombola, raffle, a BBQ and refreshments.
Alan Brockbank, the director of curriculum at SGS College says: “I have never seen so many staff, curriculum and corporate, laughing and joking at the same time and keeping a competitive edge! The staff members are a credit to the college and I am so proud of them for giving up their time for a worthy cause.”
CLIC Sargent fundraising manager, Sophie Porfirio, who attended the college’s event said: “I can’t thank SGS College enough for the effort they went to with this event. Not only did everyone enjoy a fantastic day but it was also a tremendous fundraiser too.
“A special thank you goes out to Siobhan Turner, Alan Brockbank, Debbie Hodges and Alex Hodges, all of whom played a pivotal role in ensuring that the event was a success.”
