‘Do Your Bit Blackcurrant’ ice cream

Callestick Farm, one of the leading ice cream producers in the county has been working with their sellers to help raise funds to help support children and young people with cancer.

Throughout September, Cornwall was treated to an extra scoop of tasty ice cream all in aid of CLIC Sargent. The ‘Do you Bit Blackcurrant’ flavour incorporates the CLIC Sargent colours with a fruity taste and tasty clotted cream.

For every scoop sold, Callestick Farm donated 10p with participating sellers donating a further 10p per scoop and customers asked to do the same.

Ice cream sellers across the county were involved from Newquay to Fowey, Torpoint to Falmouth helping to increase the profile of this fantastic campaign.

Angela Parker, director at Callestick Farm, said: “We are thrilled to be able to play a part in helping to raise some money for this extremely worthy cause. Of course it is not just us, our scooping customers have come up trumps too by offering to match our donation; we are lucky to have such a great customer base behind us to help us make this campaign work.”

Families invited to Callestick Farm

Alongside the fruity fundraiser, some local families supported by CLIC Sargent were able to enjoy a trip around the ice cream factory and farm. The families were treated to a behind the scenes tour of everything from the calves and cows living on the farm through to the ice cream packaging and labelling.

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Stephanie Cherington-Rimmell said: “Working with the wonderful team at Callestick Farm and their sellers has been fantastic. The campaign has helped raise a huge amount for CLIC Sargent and has helped to raise awareness of our work locally.

"I would like to thank all involved for contributing to this unique campaign and making it such a success.”

Whilst the funds are still coming in from the campaign, it is clear that the ‘Do Your Bit Blackcurrant’ was a delicious winner, popular with local residents and tourists alike.
