Members of Mochdre Cricket Club have raised a fantastic £1,100 for CLIC Sargent in memory of junior member, David, who died of cancer aged 14.
David was a very keen cricketer, committed to the spirit of the game, who continued to train and play through his long illness with just the same levels of enthusiasm and commitment.
His friends at Mochdre Cricket Club showed similar enthusiasm taking on marathon and half-marathon distances, either by running, cycling or walking to raise money for children and young people with cancer.
Father and son, Gareth and Sam took on a full marathon distance for the first time to raise funds, and six of the seven other club members and supporters also completed a half-marathon distance for the first time in aid of CLIC Sargent.
The money raised by Mochdre Cricket Club could pay for a CLIC Sargent Nurse for a week whilst they coordinate clinical and non-clinical care for children and young people with cancer.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Vicki Moore said: “Mochdre Cricket Club have raised a wonderful amount for the charity.
"They should all be really proud of what they have achieved”.
