Four students at Parkfield Community School in Taunton have raised an amazing £735 for children and young people with cancer.
Every year, Parkfield Community School encourage their year six pupils to nominate, research and pitch their charity of choice to the school before a holding a vote.
11 year old Eve Newman chose to pitch for CLIC Sargent after her close friend and ex pupil of Parkfield Community School, was diagnosed with leukaemia last year.
Eve’s knowledge and her articulate and emotive pitch in front of 400 pupils and staff secured the majority of votes winning the school pitch!
The hard work didn’t stop there as Eve and the year six committee of fundraisers’ Erin, Eleanor and Emma all set to work to put on the annual school disco.
Head Teacher at Parkfield Community School, Mr Sides said: “We are proud and delighted with the fantastic amount of money that the girls have raised. They have worked incredibly hard with hardly any supervision and this is a fantastic result after all their hard work!”
The girls put on a hugely successful event raising the most amount of money the school has raised for any nominated charity.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manger, Kiren Fernandes said: “A massive well done to Eve, Erin, Eleanor and Emma for their amazing fundraising efforts!
“The money they have raised for CLIC Sargent is enough for us to fund 21 copies of What now? CLIC Sargent’s new booklet to help parents and carers whose child has just been diagnosed with cancer to understand how it may affect them.”
