Members of Sheffield University’s Lacrosse Club have been busy fundraising for CLIC Sargent in memory of their friend Holly Willis who sadly died in March 2011 aged 21. Holly, who was from Hertfordshire and supported by CLIC Sargent, was a student of the university and a member of the club.
Seven club members got sponsored to take part in the Sheffield Half Marathon on the 27 May including Georgie Matthews, one of the club Captains for 2012/13 and a good friend of Holly’s. They also held a raffle at their annual sports awards evening that month. Altogether they raised an incredible £3,860.97. This is not the first time the club have raised funds for CLIC Sargent. Last year they raised £2,833.03 and they plan to support the charity again in the future.
Dee Tyler, Area Fundraising Manager for the North, says: “We are delighted to have the support of Sheffield University’s Lacrosse Club again this year. They have worked really hard to raise even more money than last year and I’m sure Holly would have been very proud of all of them. This money will help to support more families like Holly’s go through that difficult journey.”
