15 year old, Rebecca and her family from Dunstable, Bedfordshire have raised over £1,000 for CLIC Sargent by organising a disco fundraiser.
Rebecca was diagnosed with Optic Nerve Gliona when she was six years old. Now aged 15 and still receiving treatment, Rebecca wanted to show her thanks for the support CLIC Sargent has provided for her family by organising the disco event.
Rebecca’s mum, Violet, said: “Our CLIC Sargent Social Worker, Melisha, has been a great source of support to us as a family. Because of the kindness shown to us we decided to hold an event to help CLIC Sargent to help others. We had great fun on the night and it was a joy to do!”
The money raised from the event could pay for a CLIC Sargent Social Worker for an entire week whilst they offer emotional and practical support to children and young people with cancer, and their families.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Claire Shovelton said: “We would like to say a big thank you to the Griffin family for all of their wonderful efforts. £1,075 is a fantastic amount to have raised and will make a big difference to the children and young people with cancer we support in Bedfordshire, and across the UK.”
Thank you to Rebecca and everyone involved in helping to raise this incredible amount for CLIC Sargent.
