CLIC Sargent welcomes health proposals for children and young people

The Government has publicly pledged to improve the health of children and young people and reduce their rate of mortality.

Commenting on the publication by the Department of Health of Improving Children and Young People’s Health Outcomes: a system wide response, CLIC Sargent Chief Executive, Lorraine Clifton, said: “We welcome this response to the Children and Young People’s Health Outcomes Forum report and the Government’s ambition to ensure health outcomes for children and young people are among the best in the world. In particular, we are pleased to see the formation of the new Children and Young People’s Health Outcomes Board which will ensure there is a focus on improving outcomes across the whole child health system.

“We also welcome the inclusion of a measure for childhood cancer survival for children in the NHS Outcomes Framework 2013-14 and the ongoing work to develop an indicator for integrated care.”
