Sophie Macrae raised over £11,000 for CLIC Sargent by organising her very first solo concert after losing her sister in a car accident and her mum to cancer.

Inspiring soprano raises over £11,000 for children and young people with cancer

At the young age of 12, Sophie tragically lost her sister, Henrietta, in a car accident, and just two years later, she lost her mother to cancer. Both Sophie’s mother and sister adored charity work, and Sophie wanted to use her talent to dedicate a night to both of them while raising money for children and young people with cancer.

With over 250 people attending, Sophie's late summer celebration has managed to raise an incredible £11,370, including Gift Aid, for CLIC Sargent.

The event consisted of a sit-down classical concert with a special appearance from the very talented acoustic boyband The Harbour, and was hosted at the beautiful St Gabriel’s Church in Pimlico.

Guests included Pippa Middleton, CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Catherine Cadman, and even a passer by who quite literally stopped in his tracks at the sound of Sophie’s soothing tones.

Sophie said: “As a classical singer, I wanted to combine an evening of music and fundraising to form something special, an event to remember with my very own personal touch.”

Thank you

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Catherine Cadman said: “It was such a pleasure to attend Sophie’s concert. She is a very talented young lady!

"She had clearly put a huge amount of thought into organising the whole event.

"To listen to her sing was really very moving. And the amount she has raised is absolutely amazing! I wish Sophie all the best for the next steps in her already very successful career."
