On Sunday 15 December 2013, CLIC Sargent celebrated the festive season with the 31st annual carol concert at the Newcastle City Hall.
Concert set to raise £3,500
The Newcastle Hospitals' Choir were joined by the New Tyneside Orchestra and the Junior and Senior Choirs of Kings Priory Academy. It was another brilliant year which the organising committee should be very proud of.
The event looks set to raise over £3,500 including matched funding from Whitley Bay branch of Barclays who helped out on the day.
At the concert, the Macnaughton-Jones family spoke about the support CLIC Sargent provided for them after their son James was diagnosed with cancer. James also played the flute during the concert.
The Macnaughton-Jones family were supported by CLIC Sargent social worker, Sue Carey, who was particularly helpful when James moved to a difficult secondary school after finishing his treatment.
James's mum Alison said: “We met Sue, our CLIC Sargent social worker, towards the end of James’ first course of treatment and she was there to speak to from then on if we ever had any problems... she was there to help with all the practical things, the bits you don’t necessarily think about."
Thank you so much to everyone involved including Greggs bakery who donated mince pies, the Lord Mayor of Newcastle who attended the event, all the volunteers who helped in the lead up to the event and on the day including the Brownies who helped to blow up all the balloons, and of course to all the wonderful performers.
