A Zumba class and raffle has raised over £400 in support of children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Zumba teacher Uzma Nazir decided to fundraise for CLIC Sargent during one of her classes. With the help of current participants and her friends and family she advertised her class to all Zumba enthusiasts from the surrounding area.
On the night there was a raffle with great prizes from Cath Kidston, Headmasters and more. Also, Pip Organic donated a free carton of apple juice to everyone who attended. Through the class fee and the raffle, Uzma managed to raise a fantastic £411 in total.
Uzma said: “Especially being a mother of two, I can’t imagine the pain, and what is going through families minds when they find out their child has cancer.
"The event was a great success and our usual participants helped to spread the word.”
Nicola White, CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager said: “Thank you to Uzma for choosing to organise a Zumba event in her local area.
"The money raised could pay for two young people to take part in a residential weekend at Malcolm Sargent House, CLIC Sargent’s holiday home in Ayrshire, where young people can meet others with similar experiences to themselves.”
