Marks & Spencer in Brighton has reached the end of a fantastic year of fundraising for CLIC Sargent as its local charity of the year, raising more than £3,600 for the charity.
Manager Craig Taylor and charity representative Claire Button presented a cheque for £3,695 to CLIC Sargent’s Chief Executive Kate Lee and CLIC Sargent Nurses on the cancer ward at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital.
The phenomenal year of fundraising has seen staff at the store get involved in a host of events, from in-store cycles and bag packing to abseiling.
In addition Claire has worked with CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Helen Farquharson to contact other M&S Stores in the region, which has led to M&S Epsom choosing CLIC Sargent as its local charity of the year 2016/17.
Claire Button said: “We’ve had a great year raising funds for CLIC Sargent and it means so much to be able to visit the hospital where the children are treated.
"We’ve been able to see first hand what a big difference the support from our customers and staff makes to children and young people with cancer.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Helen Farquharson said: “We want to say a huge thank you to the team at M&S Carden Avenue and all their customers.
"Claire and the team have worked so hard and will help towards our goal to change what it means to be diagnosed with cancer when you’re young."
"As well as raising this incredible amount, they’ve also visited the ward to give the children who are having treatment for cancer some lovely treats like advent calendars, pancakes and Easter eggs.
"We really appreciate the hard work and generosity that has gone in to raising the pounds – every penny raised will help our team at the Royal Alexandra provide vital support for children and their families.”
