The company is providing the official wigs for people to purchase and wear on May 20, when hundreds of people across the country will be showing off new hairstyles to support children and young people with cancer.
Wig Wednesday is the annual fundraising event from CLIC Sargent, a charity which provides practical, emotional and financial support for children and young people with cancer, and their families. It is a chance for people all over the country to wear outrageous wigs for the day while showing solidarity for children and young people who may lose their hair through cancer treatment.
Staff from Gainsborough-based Smiffys will also be getting involved on the day by wearing wigs and fundraising. Events will include a quiz, bake sale and a sweepstake.
Dominique Peckett, Marketing Director at Smiffys, said: "Smiffys’ aim is to bring ‘Serious Fun to the World’ - we are serious about supporting charitable campaigns and hope we can add to the fun of Wig Wednesday.
Helping children and young people who are coping with cancer is one of the most worthy causes we could hope to support.
"We are pleased to be Official Wig Partner 2015."
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Kiren Fernandes said: "We’re so grateful to Smiffys for becoming our official Wig Partner for Wig Wednesday 2015 and for getting involved in raising vital funds for children and young people with cancer.
"This will be the fourth year of Wig Wednesday and it’s continuing to be a hugely successful fundraising event for CLIC Sargent with companies and schools all over the UK taking part by getting their wig on!"
