The Reverend Jean Marshall, a member of Bodmin Inner Wheel Club has completed a sponsored walk from her home town to Canterbury in Kent, raising £2,900 for children and young people with cancer.
Jean began her journey with a heavy bag on her back from Bodmin where a group of club members, family, friends and neighbours wished her a safe journey.
Jean wanted to raise money for children and young people with cancer and chose to support CLIC Sargent, which is also the chosen charity of the Inner Wheel President Hilary Geness for her year in office.
Jean took nearly a month to complete the walk, staying at bed and breakfasts along the way and is paying for it in lieu of her annual summer holiday. When she was able to, Jean stopped at the homes of her family members, including her daughters homes in Exeter, Sherborne and Reigate.
Jean retuned to Bodmin by coach and was greeted by a large group of club members and friends with banners and flags. Friend and fellow Inner Wheel member Dot Sampson said: "What a brave lady she is, to walk all that way on her own. We all thanked her for her tremendous courage and determination in completing this walk for CLIC Sargent."
