Leading care home operator, Excelcare along with its design and build partners, Guildmore have presented a cheque for £10,000 to CLIC Sargent at their recent, annual prestigious award ceremony.
This year’s theme was ‘Carnival-style’, complete with a funfair, steel band, carnival dancers and fortune teller. Even head office team members were dressed in carnival colours and feathers for this special occasion.
The event was attended by 250 staff members, sponsors and suppliers, and gave recognition and appreciation to over 50 members of staff who received awards and vouchers for their outstanding service.
CLIC Sargent was nominated by the company's Cambridge Regional Manager, Louise Jones whose family has received support from the charity.
Louise said: “On a personal note I can honestly say this amazing charity made a huge difference to my family after my 18 year old niece was diagnosed with a brain tumour two years ago.
“When all you want to do is cry, CLIC Sargent were there to help with financial burdens, accommodation when the weather was too bad to travel and support and advice to a very frightened family whilst we tried any treatment the hospital could offer."
Supporting CLIC Sargent
So far this year, Excelcare and Guildmore staff have raised £5,000 for CLIC Sargent through cake sales, fetes, raffles, guessing games, sponsored walks, tuck shop sales, taking part in CLIC Sargent’s Wig Wednesday, and many more events.
Excelcare CEO, Osman Ertosun also kindly agreed to double the amount that his staff have raised for CLIC Sargent to £10,000.
The money raised could pay for a CLIC Sargent Nurse for two months whilst they coordinate clinical and non-clinical care for young cancer patients, to maximise the time they can safely spend at home.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Karen Roberts said: “A big thank you to everyone at Excelcare and Guildmore for helping CLIC Sargent make a difference to the lives of children and young people with cancer.”
