Celebrating 32 years of Singing for CLIC Sargent

Over 100 singers received a special CLIC Sargent certificate and badge for their years of commitment to the Midlands Hospitals' Choir which raises thousands of pounds for CLIC Sargent every year.

Celebrating 32 years of Singing for CLIC Sargent

The singers, who were meeting for a concert rehearsal followed by the choir AGM at the church of St Faith and St Lawrence in Harbourne, were handed the thank you certificates by the choir's Artistic Director, David Lawrence.

The choir were split into three groups, those who have sung for over five years received a bronze lapel pin badge, those who have sung for 15 years received a silver one and those who have sung for an incredible 25 years or more were awarded a special gold lapel pin.

Anna Finnegan, CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager for the West Midlands said: "This has been a wonderful opportunity to say thank you to the Midlands Hospitals’ Choir who have, for over 30 years, donated the proceeds of their Christmas Concert, to help support children and young people with cancer.

"We do not receive money from the government, therefore it is through the help of  local community groups like this choir that we are able to continue our work based at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and throughout the West Midlands."

About the choir

Claire Calver, Chair of the Midlands Hospitals Choir said: "Drawing members from local hospitals, we originally formed in 1982 in memory of Sir Malcolm Sargent and the charity set up in his name. We still have a large contingent from the medical and associated professions across the West Midlands.

"The choir is open to anyone with a joy for singing, being a mixed voice choir of over 160 talented singers.

"We are delighted to support CLIC Sargent at our annual Christmas Celebration, this year being held in Town Hall Birmingham on Friday 13 December with two performances – 3 pm and 7.30 pm."
