CLIC Sargent launches a brand new partnership with jewellery retailers H Samuel and Ernest Jones.
To celebrate the launch of this partnership H Samuel, Ernest Jones and Leslie Davis stores UK-wide will be selling George the CLIC Sargent Bear between October and December 2014. All profits from sales of George the Bear will be donated to CLIC Sargent.
George the CLIC Sargent Bear was inspired by the Hickman Line teddy bear – a bear with a pretend catheter for administering chemotherapy – that CLIC Sargent Play Specialists use to help children understand the treatment they might need to have for cancer. CLIC Sargent Play Specialists might use toys or models to explain the different types of treatment to help a child reduce any worries they might have.
The sale of five George the Bears could pay for one hour of a CLIC Sargent Play Specialist’s time to help children prepare for and cope with treatment. All the money raised through sales of George will help CLIC Sargent to provide vital clinical, practical and emotional support for children and young people with cancer and their families.
Throughout the partnership Signet and CLIC Sargent will be running seasonal UK-wide fundraising campaigns as well as staff and individual fundraising and challenges.
Lucy Caldicott, Director of Fundraising at CLIC Sargent, said: “We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Signet UK’s retailers, and to introduce George the CLIC Sargent Bear.
“Every day in the UK, 10 children and young people hear the shocking news they have cancer. CLIC Sargent Play Specialists use toys like George to help children understand what is happening to them and to make the experience less frightening. This partnership will help CLIC Sargent provide children and young people, and their families, with this and other vital forms of support.”
