We are so lucky to have so many inspirational people that go the extra mile by taking on a challenge to raise money for children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Their hard work and dedication to the cause is outstanding. Here is Paul Davis's story, the CLIC Sargent star challenger of the month.
Paul took part in the very soggy Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 event on Sunday 10 August in memory of his son Oli.
Oli died last year aged 16, after being treated for the rare cancer Rhabdomyosarcoma for five years.
Throughout his illness and treatment Oli showed amazing spirit and insisted on continuing a normal school life, passing his GCSE examinations and starting sixth form.
Paul has raised over £1,300 for CLIC Sargent in his son's memory.
Paul says: “I have been inspired by my son Oli. The way he refused to be typified by his illness and his drive to lead a normal school life as much as possible, was an example to his friends as well as his family.
CLIC Sargent has been a comfort with bereavement support to our family, including advice with Oli’s two siblings
“As only a commuting cyclist, the Ride 100 route required me to show some of the persistence and resolve that Oli demonstrated."
If you have been inspired by Paul and Oli's story, register to take part in next year’s Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 with CLIC Sargent and help raise funds for children and young people with cancer, and their families.
