William Hale had been growing his hair for 14 months before the shave, and the difference is marked! After the shave William said: “It’s nice to turn over in bed without getting tangled!”
His head shave on the night was part of CLIC Sargent's Big Buzz campaign, which encourages people to become 'life shavers' to support children and young people with cancer, many of whom lose their hair during treatment.
In honour of Aunti Grace
William said: “I’m shaving my head for CLIC Sargent as part of our annual fundraiser in honour of Aunti Grace Russell who has fought a dignified battle with breast cancer.
“I feel excited about shaving off my massive hair - we've had some wild and wacky hair moments over the last 14 months. But children and young people being treated for cancer don’t have a choice about losing their hair. I know the money is going to a fantastic cause in CLIC Sargent and that is what’s inspiring me to go through with it.
"Aunti Grace is back home and recovering well from her surgery, and the family are incredibly proud of her."
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Caroline Marshall said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone for organising such a wonderful event and for joining the ‘life-shaver’ team.
“Every day 11 children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. Many will lose their hair during treatment and the Big Buzz campaign gives you the chance to show support for them by shaving your head and raising money for CLIC Sargent.
“It’s amazing to have such fantastic local support for young lives facing cancer, and I think William looks fab in his new do!”
