Ice skating arenas raise almost £10,000 for children and young people with cancer

Planet Ice, Europe’s largest provider of Ice Leisure, has raised nearly £10,000 for CLIC Sargent over the past two years.

The company have been raising funds by staging family fun days which began when the partnership first started in 2011. All 10 rinks across the UK got involved with free 'learn to skate' sessions, public skating, cake stalls, games and competitions, and even the odd appearance from Dancing on Ice professional skaters and a fire engine!

Planet Ice MD John Neville commented: "We are very proud to be a contributor to CLIC Sargent. It’s an excellent cause and we hope to raise more money and awareness for them at out next Fun Day on Wednesday 21 August."

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Nicola said: "Thank you to Planet Ice for choosing to support CLIC Sargent over the past two years. It’s been a great success with each Fun Day being very popular and I hope our partnership continues to be a triumph.

"The fantastic amount that Planet Ice has raised so far could help pay for a family to stay for a month in one of CLIC Sargent’s eight Homes from Home, providing free self-catering accommodation near to specialist children’s cancer treatment centres, which are often many miles from a family’s own home. Staying in a Home from Home ensures a family can be close to their child during treatment."
