Eight year old Keedie from Swindon has cut off 10 inches of her 23 inch long hair for CLIC Sargent’s Big Buzz campaign, raising an amazing £1,125 for children and young people with cancer.
When she was aged just six years old, Keedie decided to grow her hair so that she could cut it to raise money for CLIC Sargent, her great granddad’s chosen charity and then donate the hair to The Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children with cancer.
Keedie’s mother Samantha says: “We are so incredibly proud of Keedie. She loves her hair and at the age of just eight years old she has made such a grown up decision. We are completely overwhelmed by the generosity of people and thank everyone who has helped Keedie raise such a brilliant amount. I’d like to also say a massive thank you to Connie Bird from Jade Salon for cutting Keedie’s hair.”“
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Sophie Profirio said: "Keedie has been so selfless giving up her lovely hair in memory of her grandfather and to help children and young people with cancer. Raising over £1,000 is absolutely incredible, especially being just eight years old.”
The money raised by Keedie, could pay for a CLIC Sargent Nurse for an entire week. CLIC Sargent Nurses coordinate clinical and non-clinical care for children with cancer to reduce the number of visits they have to make to hospital.
Thank you so much Keedie for raising this incredible amount for children and young people with cancer.
