Kind hearted Bobbie-Anne Wright and her team of cake baking friends from all over the world used their skills to support children and young people with cancer.
At five years of age, Bobbie-Anne’s daughter Yasmine was diagnosed with a brain tumour, and sadly died five months later.
Throughout her illness, Yasmine and Bobbie-Anne were supported by CLIC Sargent, which at the time was a newly formed charity.
2015 sees CLIC Sargent celebrating its 10th Birthday as a charity, but also marks what would have been Yasmine’s 15th birthday.
The idea was that everyone involved would bake and share photos of their pink cakes - Yasmine’s favourite colour - and raise funds in the form of silent auctions and decoration tutorials. The launch date was 2 March 2015, Yasmine’s birthday.
Since the launch, Bobbie-Anne and her friends have raised over £1,100 for CLIC Sargent.
Bobbie-Anne said: “CLIC Sargent is very close to my heart. Yasmine's cancer was a brain tumour but she made many friends during her illness, all suffering different forms of cancer.
"It seems fitting that we raise funds for other children facing cancer.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Andy Fuller said: “When I was first made aware of Bobbie-Anne’s idea, I thought it was fantastic.
"What followed was nothing short of amazing. I personally want to thank Bobbie-Anne for her hard work and commitment to helping support children and young people with cancer.”
