Complete with camels, a fly past from a Tiger Moth, a life size Bollywood Golden Cow and choreographed interactive Bollywood dancing; the Big Wig goes Bollywood Ball hosted 500 of Northamptonshire’s glitterati in a beautifully themed marquee, raising an incredible £25,000 for each charity.
Inspiration for the committee to support CLIC Sargent came from Tom Hollick, 15, whose father Nigel ran the wine bar at Big Wig Goes Bollywood.
Tom has had surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment for multiple brain tumours, and benefitted from the support of CLIC Sargent. The whole family was able to stay together at Billy’s House, CLIC Sargent’s Home from Home, while Tom had his treatment at Queen’s Medical Centre.
The ball received generous prizes for the evening in a raffle, silent auction and grand auction, including a week skiing in a beautiful chalet in the Porte du Soleil region in the Alps, a day on the set of the Great British Bake Off 2017 and an exclusive factory tour around Red Bull Racing.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Lydia Buckmaster said: “The effort that the Big Wig Ball committee has gone to in order to put on such a beautifully themed event is incredible.
“From the costumes to the camels, every detail has contributed to the event, raising a phenomenal amount to help those experiencing cancer.
“I’d like to thank everyone who helped make the ball such a wonderful success and I look forward to seeing what they come up with next!”
