Mayor Arwel Roberts, from Rhuddlan, has raised £700 for CLIC Sargent by braving a mile-long zip wire, which reaches speeds of up to 100mph.
Mayor Roberts powered down Europe’s longest zip wire at Zip World in Bethesda in memory of Hywyn Williams, an official with Denbighshire County Council who died recently and who lost one of his daughters to cancer at a very young age.
Mayor Roberts said: “As the Mayor of Rhuddlan it was an honour to support this great cause. It was a great experience and a fantastic day.
"I’m really proud to be doing my bit to help the charity. The money raised will really make a difference to the lives of the children and young people with cancer and their families who are supported by CLIC Sargent.”
A unique challenge
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Hayley Weaver said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Mayor Arwel Roberts supported CLIC Sargent in this way.
"We really appreciate his hard work in raising such an amazing amount of money for the charity through this unique challenge.”
