The Dulverton branch of Risdon Hosegood Solicitors is championing wig wearing in Dulverton, and has gained the support of many offices and shops in the local town to join them in getting wiggy on Wednesday 25 May.
The extensive list includes: Dulverton Deli, The Bridge Inn, M & H Fruit and Veg, Dulverton Pharmacy, Seddons Estate Agents and How’s The Hair, who all plan to wear crazy coloured wigs on the day and raise much needed funds for CLIC Sargent.
Suzi Koszler, manager of the Dulverton office of Risdon Hosegood, said: “We first got involved with Wig Wednesday last year when our receptionist, Amber Smith, saw it advertised on the internet.
“We spent our lunch hour walking through the town and going for lunch in the Bridge Inn in our wigs and got a lot of attention.
"Several of the local business owners told us that they would like to join us this year. We contacted those people and then asked other business owners if they would also like to help out.
“It’s great to see how everyone wants to be involved and help raise money and awareness for this fantastic cause. Dulverton is a really great place to live and we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful location. Everybody is friendly and welcoming and always willing to get involved and help out.”
Suzi and the team are also organising a raffle to raise additional funds, with many of the local businesses donating prizes.
The small town and civil parish of Dulverton is home to 1,400 people. The work of CLIC Sargent this year has been on the town’s agenda as a young pupil of All Saints Primary School cut her hair short and raised over £1,000 for the cause.
You can get involved too
You too can get involved with Wig Wednesday and support children and young people with cancer through one of the most difficult times of their lives.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Hannah Worrall said: “We are so thrilled to hear Dulverton is coming together to support young cancer patients."
