A team of sports therapists provided post-race recovery treatments at the Eden Classic sportive cycling event in aid of children and young people with cancer.
A team of therapists from across Cornwall and Devon attended the Eden Classic sportive cycling event on 10 May to provide post-event sports massage and RockTape applications in aid of CLIC Sargent.
The mass participation cycle ride saw 700 participants take on one of the three routes in the sportive; 35 miles, 62 miles or 100 miles.
When returning from the cycle, the participants were in need of recovery treatments and provided a donation to CLIC Sargent in return for a treatment.
Katie Addis, sports therapy student treating at the Eden Classic, said: “Providing treatments at the Eden Classic sportive in aid of CLIC Sargent is a great way to gain hands on experience and have a positive impact.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Georgina Reed said: “We were thrilled when the Eden Project asked us to provide the sports therapy provision for the Eden Classic sportive, in support of CLIC Sargent.
It was a great way for the students to learn and gain experience while raising money for charity.
"It also had a positive impact in raising awareness of the support CLIC Sargent provides in Cornwall. We would like to thank the Eden Classic sportive team for inviting us to organise the sports therapy provision for the event.
"We would also like to thank all of the therapists that volunteered their time and services, RockTape for sponsoring the tape supplies, and all the riders who generously donated for their much-needed treatments.”
