16 football clubs across Cornwall competed for the Durning Lawrence Cornwall Charity Cup this season, and raised £500 for children and young people with cancer.
The Durning Lawrence Charity Cup final took place on 6 May between St Dennis AFC and Penryn Athletic. It was a closely fought and competitive game, but it was St Dennis that finally lifted the Charity Cup.
Cornwall FA was pleased to present a cheque for £500 to CLIC Sargent as a testament to the support of the football association, the clubs, supporters and volunteers throughout the Durning Lawrence Charity Cup campaign.
Claire Summers-Evans, of Cornwall Football Association, said: “This season has seen all the competing clubs really buy into supporting CLIC Sargent and we at Cornwall FA are extremely grateful to every single club for their enthusiasm.
"Members of CLIC Sargent have been present at games with collection buckets, clubs have donated their 50/50 takings and various special events have been organised at games with mascots, schools and competitions, all in the aid of raising awareness and money for CLIC Sargent.”
Thank you Cornwall FA
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Georgina Reed said: “We were thrilled when Cornwall FA decided to support CLIC Sargent with its Charity Cup donation for the 2014/2015 football season.
"We have been inspired by the efforts and enthusiasm of all the clubs that have taken part and gone the extra mile to support CLIC Sargent.
"We would like to thank Cornwall FA, all of the clubs involved, and volunteers that have helped to maximise the fundraising from the Charity Cup.”
