For the ninth year running, Old Park Primary School in Wednesbury held a sponsored day of dancing by taking part in CLIC Sargent’s Practice-a-thon in memory of one of its pupils.
The school began its fundraising in memory of student Rahul Desai, who CLIC Sargent supported before he died of cancer in 2007. Rahul had attended the school throughout his treatment and has always been described as a 'spirited young man'.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Anna Oliver said: “It was a brilliant and lively event, the children looked like they were having so much fun and there was so much energy in the room.
"I would like to say a massive thank you to Mrs Pearce who spent the whole day leading the dancing from the school stage with a great passion.
"I would also like to say thank you to year 5 pupil Valishia Bhakta who raised a staggering £1,375 for children and young people with cancer.
"Last year in the West Midlands CLIC Sargent supported over 300 children and young people with cancer. It is with thanks to the tremendous effort of local schools fundraising that we are able to do this.”
