Karting to cars!

Most 14 year olds only dream of getting behind the wheel of a car and racing around a track like Silverstone, but for CLIC Sargent supporter Lochlan Bearman, this dream has become a reality.

In 2015 Lochlan was BSKC Champion with the fastest lap out of 72 drivers, runner up at the East Anglian Trophy Meeting, third in the Whilton Mill Championship and winner of the Minimax Championship at Kimbolton.

Lochlan is a long term supporter of CLIC Sargent and we have watched him go from strength to strength through his karting career and we will now be able to watch him race his Fiesta in this season's televised series.

Lochlan’s dad John Bearman said: “He’s surpassed all expectations - motorsport is tough because you have to have the best equipment and we’ve not always been able to give him that, but even so he’s now won five championships; as you can imagine I’m very proud.

"I don’t think there was anything left to achieve in karting so it made sense to make the move into cars.

"He will probably be the youngest in the field but that just spurs him on.

"He already looks fast in testing, it’s a huge jump but he is determined. It’s going to be very exciting."

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Karen Roberts said: “We are thrilled for Lochlan and extremely grateful to him for raising awareness of CLIC Sargent wherever he races.

"The more awareness we raise of the work of CLIC Sargent, the more funds we raise to enable us to continue supporting the 10 children and young people who are diagnosed with cancer each day and their families.

"We wish Lochlan all the best with his new venture and a safe and successful season and will be following him with interest to see how many championships he wins this year!”
