Brave swimmers prepare for North Sea dip fundraiser

A group of friends from Blackhall Colliery, Hartlepool are getting ready for a chilly dip in the north sea at Seaton Carew, to raise money for CLIC Sargent.

The sponsored dip has been organised by Sammy Jo and her friends to show support for their close friend’s 18-month-old son Bradley, who has been diagnosed with cancer.

She said: “Bradley’s diagnosis came as a complete shock to everyone, and it’s a very tough time for the family so we wanted to show some support to them.

“We know how much fantastic support CLIC Sargent provides to children and young people with cancer and their families, so we’re all desperate to raise as much money as possible for a fantastic charity.”

CLIC Sargent’s fundraising manager, Dee Tyler, said: “This is a fantastic way to raise funds, and we are extremely grateful to Sammy Jo and her friends for all their efforts. I would encourage as many people as possible to get involved with or sponsor Sammy Jo.”

The sponsored dip takes place on Sunday 17 February at 10.30am. Anyone who would like to take part should meet the group at 10am at the Seaton Hotel in Hartlepool.
