Following a session on the We Activate programme, a group of students decided to organise a gig to fundraise for CLIC Sargent.
The NCS programme
The National Citizen Service programme helps young people to build skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and meeting new friends. Part of the programme involves completing a community project and students often choose to support a charity through this project.
Students from the NCS provider, We Activate, chose to support children and young people with cancer, by holding a music event. They pulled together as a team, worked closely with CLIC Sargent to successfully raise £500.
The students hosted 80 guests at local venue, Bedford Esquires. Top acts, OX2 and Arjun kept everyone on their feet dancing the evening away. Through the ticket sales and their own JustGiving page, the students raised a brilliant £500. A fantastic evening was had by all!

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Catherine Cadman said: "It has been an absolute pleasure working with this group of NCS students - from meeting them during our session; to liaising with them throughout the preparation for the event; to hearing all about their success. I am incredibly impressed at how well they worked together as a team. Each individual had their own responsibility - terrific organisation!
"Their passion to run a successful event and raise as much as possible for CLIC Sargent was clear to see. I’m pleased to know that they have gained invaluable knowledge, skills and experience through this process. I wish them all the best! Thank you to the whole team!"
