Salisbury resident Beccy Miller organised a beautiful dinner party in memory of her friend Alex Birkenhead, earlier this month, raising a staggering £1,400 for CLIC Sargent.
Beccy said: “It was such an amazing evening, nothing short of a perfect tribute to Alex.
“Everyone who came was in such high spirits and created such a lovely atmosphere, and for us, Alex’s friends, it meant so much to have that support on what was such a special, memorable evening for us.”
Alex was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2004 and was supported by CLIC Sargent. She sadly died in 2008 aged 24.
Beccy said: “Eight years later we now feel it is time to throw her a big dinner party whilst raising money for CLIC Sargent, who were a tremendous support not only to Alex, but to her family throughout her illness and passing.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager James McDonald said: “This is such a wonderful way to celebrate Alex’s life.
“On behalf of the whole charity I would like to thank Beccy for all her hard work and the generous donation of £1,400 to support children and young people with cancer.
“Our mission is to change what it means to be diagnosed with cancer when you’re young, and with Beccy’s support and all the guests at Celebrate 4 CLIC we can achieve this."
