Bristol man undergoes his first haircut in 21 years

Graham Fear, a content developer at Lyons Davidson, is turning heads with his new look after losing 51 inches of hair and becoming a 'life-shaver' for children and young people with cancer.

Graham with the CLIC Sargent team

Graham braved the clippers as part of CLIC Sargent's Big Buzz campaign, which encourages people to shave their heads to support children and young people with cancer, many of whom lose their hair during treatment.

The sponsored head shave was held in Level Cuts in Bristol on 5 August, where he was watched and encouraged by excited friends Fionna and Dan.

He's a 'life-shaver'

Graham said: “It has been very emotional. My long hair for a long time has been not only a comfort blanket but also my only vanity point, and loosing that has been hard.

“But it also brought home how hard it must be for the children and young people I am helping, they haven’t had the choice like I have, and have to face this not just once but several times in some cases.

“In four weeks we've not only reached my original goal of £1,500 but actually blew it away, raising an extra thousand on top. That’s a total of £2,519.60 raised for CLIC Sargent.”

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Victoria Williams said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Graham for becoming a ‘life-shaver’ for CLIC Sargent.

"I think the finished result looks amazing!”

There is still time to sponsor Graham. Visit his official JustGiving page and make a donation today.
