Seafront bar Aura and Dusk played host to Weymouth’s first CLICFest event, attracting many music lovers to enjoy a strong line up of acts, including Britain’s Got Talent star Bailey McConnell whilst raising money for children and young people with cancer.
CLICFest organiser, Tom Ryan was diagnosed with a melanoma behind one of his eyes in February. After undergoing operations and radiotherapy a couple of months ago, he decided to organise CLICFest to raise money for CLIC Sargent.
Tom said: “While I was in hospital I didn’t have a lot to do and I read that ten children get told they have cancer every day. CLIC Sargent was one of the first charities to get in touch with me after I got diagnosed and I thought doing something like this would be an awesome way to give something back.”
Tom came up with the concept of the music event and worked tirelessly with Brett, Chris and Aura to put on a hugely successful day and night of music.
A highlight was the performance of young singer songwriter Bailey McConnell from Britain's Got Talent, who was a huge hit and caused a stir amongst many younger females within the audience.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Farah Batchelor said: “CLICFest has raised in excess of £2,000 for CLIC Sargent and has helped raise a huge amount of awareness of the work the charity does to help families.
“I can’t thank Tom, Aura and Dusk enough for organising such a great event for our charity. I’m really grateful to everyone who performed, contributed or attended. You all gave so generously.”
