Somerset housing associations raise funds

South west housing associations, The Curo Group and Merlin Housing Society have raised £1,500 for CLIC Sargent after taking part in a charity football match at Keynsham Town F.C.

Staff from both businesses wanted to show support for fellow employee and friend, Darren Scadding and his wife Rachel whose three year old son George died of cancer.

CLIC Sargent has provided Darren and his family with emotional, financial and practical support from the point of George’s diagnosis.

Darren said: “My wife and I really value and appreciate the support we have received from CLIC Sargent. Our CLIC Sargent nurse, Caroline has been a fantastic support during a very difficult period and has become a friend to the family.

As well as the £1,500 raised from the football match, an additional £1,000 was raised for CLIC Sargent by The Curo Group at their annual awards dinner held in December.

CLIC Sargent fundraising manager, Kiren Fernandes said: “We are absolutely delighted with the fantastic amount of money that these events raised and we would like to thank Darren, his family, The Curo Group and Merlin Housing Association for their support of CLIC Sargent.”

The George Scadding Fund

Both Darren and Rachel are committed to supporting CLIC Sargent and have set up a special online fundraising page in memory of George, where friends, family and supporters can donate directly or fundraise themselves.
