A team of over forty ran for Reece, a three year old boy diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), in 2012's Reading Half Marathon. Raising over £15,000, Team Reece did an amazing job running 13.1 miles in aid of CLIC Sargent and we would like to say a huge thank you.
When Reece was diagnosed with ALL on his 3rd birthday in December 2011 the diagnosis came as a shock and the impact was immediate. Those close to Reece wanted to do something as well as being an emotional support to Reece and his family, so they decided to take the plunge and sign up for the 2012 Reading Half Marathon.
As the news spread of Reece's diagnosis, friends, family and those who hadn't even met Reece came together and joined Team Reece. The team quickly grew to over forty, all involved coming together for one cause.
The day was a huge success for CLIC Sargent and in total the Reading Half Marathon raised over £63,000 with Team Reece playing a huge part in this success, so thank you!
Ten months on and Reece has now finished all intensive treatment and is having one course of treatment per month.
If you've been inspired and would like to be a part of 2013's Reading Half Marathon, we'd love to have you on the team and will support you from the moment you sign up until beyond race day. Find out more about next year's Reading Half Marathon.
