Colleagues at Penlon, a medical device manufacturing firm in Abingdon, Oxford, are joining hundreds of other companies, schools and individuals to support CLIC Sargent's Wig Wednesday on 25 May.
Sophie Green, of Penlon, said: “We are delighted to support CLIC Sargent again, this is our second year taking part in Wig Wednesday, we had so much fun last year and hope this year will be great too!
“We are encouraging staff to donate to wear a wig and there’s a raffle and sweepstake to join in with. Plus there will be wig-tastic prizes for the best dressed heads!”
Funds raised from Wig Wednesday will go towards CLIC Sargent’s work providing vital support when a child young person is given the devastating news they have cancer.
Making a difference
CLIC Sargent's work in the region is based at John Radcliffe Hospital. The CLIC Sargent team is there every step of the way for young people and their families during treatment, providing emotional support and practical help with finances and benefits.
CLIC Sargent also provides accommodation for families just down the road from the hospital, at a CLIC Sargent Home from Home. Families can stay for free at CLIC Court and be near their loved one during treatment.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager James McDonald said: “Wig Wednesday is a great chance to have a bit of fun while raising funds for children and young people with cancer.
“We are looking for more hair-os like Penlon, to organise Wig Wednesday events at you schools, colleges, work places or just with friends at your local”
