Premier League football clubs, including Spurs, Liverpool, Norwich City, Celtic and Rangers, are among the teams who have donated signed shirts, balls and tickets to raise money for CLIC Sargent. The shirts will be auctioned on Club Together, a one-off eBay charity auction.
CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, provides emotional, practical, clinical and financial support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life.
Club Together starts today and runs for ten days until Sunday 19 May 2013, coinciding with the end of the English Premier League season. CLIC Sargent’s banner is appearing on the eBay charity home page to direct visitors to the auction.
Other clubs which have donated signed shirts to be auctioned to raise money for CLIC Sargent include Fleetwood Town and Blackpool in the north west, Scottish clubs Aberdeen and Hibernian, London clubs Millwall and Queens Park Rangers, and in the Midlands, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury and Leicester city.
Northern teams Huddersfield Town and Middlesbrough, Norwich, and south coast teams Brighton and Hove Albion, have also donated signed shirts to be sold. Liverpool and Nottingham have donated balls, and Bristol Rovers has donated tickets to be sold at the online auction.
Kate Apperley, who leads the CLIC Sargent eBay team, said: “We are very grateful to all the teams for donating signed shirts, footballs and tickets. We are hoping all football fans will be putting their hands in their pockets and joining the bidding to help CLIC Sargent support the children, young people and their families who are coping with cancer.
“And they might end up with a shirt signed by a member of their favourite team, or a ball that went into the back of the net at that all important game, or tickets to see their team play.”
