The festive fun has already kicked off at Paul’s House, CLIC Sargent’s Home from home in London, as trees are decorated, presents are donated and mince pies eaten in preparation for Christmas!
On 22 November Santa’s grotto arrived at Paul’s house! Zurich volunteers helped to decorate the house and have generously provided gifts for the children, young people and their families staying in the Home from Home over the festive period. Dedicated volunteers from Network Rail have also donated presents to the house.
Mrs Claus is scheduled to make a couple of guest appearances in to the grotto before Christmas to have a cup of tea with everyone in the house and hand out Christmas surprises!
Children attending Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College London Hospitals for treatment, along with the Home from Home guests, were all invited to a ‘Christmas in the grotto’ party on 8 December. The afternoon was filled with festive treats and fun.
Whilst Christmas is a time of celebration, for those staying in a Home from Home it can be very challenging so CLIC Sargent staff ensure there are still quiet spaces for families who need it and make sure everyone has the ability to choose when, or if, to take part.
Children and young people with cancer often have to have specialist treatment many miles from home. It costs CLIC Sargent £33 to enable a family to stay close to their child at a CLIC Sargent Home from Home for one night.
Help stop cancer costing Christmas this December by donating online today or text GIVE to 70030 to donate £5.* Thank you.
*The £5 donation will be added to your next phone bill, plus your standard network text charge. For more information see our T&Cs.
100% of your donation will be received by CLIC Sargent, Registered Charity No: 1107328 and Scotland SC039857.
