Laura Mason, from Reading, has raised £3,805 for CLIC Sargent as her 15 year old brother-in-law is being treated for leukaemia and is being supported by the charity.
Supporting families as a whole
Laura said: “The reason I organised a ball last year and this year is that my 15 year old brother-in-law, Bradley, currently has leukaemia and I have seen myself how CLIC Sargent helps; it is so touching to know that there is a charity that supports families as a whole.
"Bradley’s family was able to stay in the Home from Home next to John Radcliffe Hospital free of charge and it was of great comfort for Bradley to know that his family was just a two minute walk away.
"For a patient, knowing their family is there for them, no matter what, can make a real difference to their happiness.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Liz Blunt said: “Bradley has a wonderful supportive family and Laura has done an amazing job in raising £3,500 last year and now even more this year. I know how much work goes into organising a ball with all the extra’s like sourcing auction prizes and Laura has shown great resilience and perseverance in doing this.
"On behalf of CLIC Sargent, I would like to say a huge thank you to Laura and her family and friends for their fantastic fundraising. Every penny raised will help provide vital support for children and young people with cancer, and their families.”
