A Staffordshire mum is turning heads with her new look after becoming a life shaver for CLIC Sargent and taking on the Big Buzz.
Thara Hunt of Tamworth braved the clippers as part of CLIC Sargent’s Big Buzz Campaign, which encourages people to shave their heads to support children and young people with cancer, many of whom lose their hair during treatment.
The sponsored head shave was held in Thara’s local hair salon and was watched and encouraged by a nervous but cheering family.
Thara said: “I came across CLIC Sargent after seeing lots of stories on social media supporting Wig Wednesday. This charity has touched my heart so much that this is my way of doing my bit to help support the services of this wonderful group of people that help and care for those who have to face such a difficult time and you can help too!”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Anna Finnegan said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Thara for becoming a life shaver for CLIC Sargent. I think the finished result looks amazing!
"Every day ten children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. Many will lose their hair during treatment and our Big Buzz Campaign gives you the chance to show support for them by shaving your head and raising money for CLIC Sargent.
"At the moment we can only help two out of three children and young people diagnosed with cancer. We want to reach as many as possible and with your support we can do this.”
