When we sent a rallying call for 29 people to take part in a head shave or associated hair event on 29 February it was a 'leap' into the dark, but for Kimberley Maclean of North Connel, Scotland it was a challenge she happily took on.
Kim, a hairdresser whose five-year-old brother is going through treatment for cancer, contacted CLIC Sargent to say she would pledge to get 29 people in Oban to take part in our Big Buzz campaign on 29 February, Leap Day.
Kim not only met her target of 29 people but smashed it, with 34 men, women and children losing their locks at The Ark Hairdressers in Oban in the largest Big Buzz fundraiser the charity has ever had.
Kim has only been fundraising for a month and so far has raised over £5,000 on account of what her little brother has been going through and CLIC Sargent's support.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Peter Logie said: "Our Big Buzz campaign encourages people to become a LifeShaver to support children and young people with cancer, many of whom lose their hair during treatment.
"Kim - you, your family and friends in Oban are amazing."

With Wig Wednesday happening across the UK on 25 May, it looks like Oban is going to be dressed in wigs as well!
