Lagan College Raises £3395.00 for the NI Homes from Home Appeal

Lagan College in Belfast has raised an incredible £3,395 for CLIC Sargent’s Northern Ireland Homes from Home Appeal, through its annual Readathon fundraising event.

Lagan College have been participating in Readathon for the past eight years and have raised an amazing £27,989.59 to date.

The pupils enjoyed reading a wide variety of books and really got stuck into their fundraising which lead to a record breaking year for the overall amount raised.

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Christine McClune was delighted to attend the schools Readathon awards assembly and helped present the prizes to the highest fundraisers. The highest fundraising class was 8POL who raised a combined total of £1,010.53.

The highest individual fundraiser was Laura Mills raising £310.00, second place was Evie McKnight with £90.90 and third was Megan Thompson who raised £86.

Christine said: “We would like to thank all the staff and pupils from Lagan College who took part in Readathon. It’s great that the pupils have got to read so many books as well as support our Homes from Home appeal. £3,395 is a fantastic amount to raise and will make a big difference to the children and young people with cancer we support in Northern Ireland.”

Northern Ireland appeal

The Northern Ireland Homes from Home appeal aims to raise £3.7 million to fund two Homes from Home at locations within walking distance of the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and the Belfast City and Northern Ireland Cancer Centre, where children and young people with cancer are treated.
