Gerard Logue sadly died on the 29 April 2004. Every year since his family and friends have organised a 5k walk and gathering on the weekend of his birthday and passing each year to raise money for CLIC Sargent.
Crowds flocked to the Waterside in Derry once again this year to support the Gerard Logue Memorial Challenge weekend, now in its 13th year.
Over 200 runners and walkers took part in the 5k along the waterside, and many attended the Iona Bar later that night to buy raffle tickets for the now locally famous prize draw.
Making a difference
An amazing £5,534 was raised for young lives against cancer.
This brings the fund total to a whopping £86,551, all in memory of much loved and dearly missed Gerard Logue.
Thanks to this incredible support CLIC Sargent is able to provide tailored specialist support, to help and guide each young cancer patient and their family.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Engagement Manager Gareth McElduff said: “We are blown away every year by the work put in to this event.
"The support shown by local businesses, the constant crowds that turn up each year, and the effort put in by family, friends and volunteers is incredible.
"Your fundraising over the years has been so so vital to CLIC Sargent and we cant thank you all enough!"
