Jen Skov and her colleagues from Zumba® Surrey have held a ‘Zumbathon® Charity Party’ in aid of CLIC Sargent and Woking & Sam Beare Hospice, raising almost £500 for each charity.
Zumba® is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness.
The event included three fun-packed hours of outdoor Zumba®, excellent live music from Bad Hair Day, a BBQ and an amazing prize raffle.
The ‘Zumbathon®’ team took an impressive total number of 17,738 steps during the event, surpassing the previous record set with the equivalent of nearly nine miles.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Dan Powell, said: “Congratulations on raising nearly £500 for CLIC Sargent… we couldn’t carry on supporting children and young people with cancer without the support of people just like you.”
The money raised by Zumba® Surrey could pay for a CLIC Sargent Social Worker for three days whilst they meet young cancer patients and their families and help them to understand the different emotional, practical and financial effects of cancer.
A special thanks to event organisers, Melanie, Sandra, Justine, Mimi, Clare, Sara, Jen and Ivette, for helping to raise this incredible amount.
