Throughout the 2015/16 season the Cornish Pirates have supported CLIC Sargent through various fundraising events, and following a successful collection on 27 December their total has reached nearly £2,000.
On 27 December the Cornish Pirates hosted Jersey RFC at Mennaye Field, Penzance in a tight game which saw The Cornish Pirates coming out 16-10 winners.
Before the game kicked off at 2pm CLIC Sargent volunteers sold Christmas hats to bring the festive spirit to the ground and also held a collection during the interval.
The generosity of the Cornish pirates and Jersey supporters was incredible, helping CLIC Sargent raise a huge £793 on the day.
Making a difference
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Jordan Anderton said: “The Cornish Pirates’ supporters, staff and volunteers have been fantastic already this season and once again they showed fantastic support to CLIC Sargent.
“£793 is the highest collection total that I have ever been involved with, and brings the total raised this season to £1,942. We are incredibly grateful for their support.”
How we help
If a young person in Cornwall is diagnosed with cancer, they would have to travel to Bristol for treatment; miles away from home, friends and normality.
CLIC Sargent provides Homes from Home, which offer free self-catering accommodation near to cancer treatment centres to ensure families can spend as much time together as possible.
The money the Cornish Pirates have raised so far this season could already pay for eight families to stay in one of our Homes from Home for a week.
