Staff at Matalan, Bury St. Edmunds celebrated their frightfully good bucket collection to support CLIC Sargent during Childhood Cancer Awareness month in September.
Matalan employee, Annie Laflin, encouraged colleagues at Matalan Bury St Edmunds to further their fundraising for CLIC Sargent during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in support of her grandson, Ashley who was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor earlier this year.
Lisa, Manager of the Bury St Edmunds store, said: "We’re really pleased that we were able to raise a further £291 during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month for the charity which has given valuable support to the grandson of one of our employees. We're proud to have raised £946.52 in total for CLIC Sargent this year".
Annie thanked the store manager, Lisa, and staff for all they have been doing over the past year to help raise money for CLIC Sargent.
CLIC Sargent's work in Suffolk
In 2013, CLIC Sargent cared for 67 young cancer patients from Suffolk and distributed support grants to these families totalling over £11,000.
Ashley's mother said: "Our CLIC Sargent support worker Christine and the nurses from Ipswich Hospital have all been a true blessing. Their amazing care and support both financially, by providing small grants to assist with the extra travel expenses, and emotionally, through counselling for the whole family, has helped immensely at this traumatic time."
Fundraising manager, Daisy Turner said: "We’re so grateful to staff and customers at Matalan for raising vital funds and awareness for CLIC Sargent during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month."
