Carmarthen houses a LifeShaver in Laura

A brave 20-year-old made a Big Buzz when she had her head shaved to raise money for children and young people with cancer, and their families.

Carmarthen houses a LifeShaver in Laura

Laura Drew, from Carmarthen, got up close and personal with the hair clippers in September 2015 to raise over £230 for CLIC Sargent.

Laura said: “I’m shaving my head for CLIC Sargent as I have had friends and family who have or are still fighting cancer.

“Two years ago I shaved my friend Kay’s hair off as she was losing it due to her treatment for bowel cancer, it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do but seeing her so brave and embrace her bald head was beautiful.”

A LifeShaver

It is all part of CLIC Sargent’s Big Buzz event, which encourages people to become a LifeShaver to support children and young people with cancer, many of whom lose their hair during treatment.

Laura added: “I really enjoyed doing it. So may people supported me and cut off a bit each.”

It was such a lovely day and I'm just glad I’ve done something to help all those children and people with cancer.

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Hannah Worrall said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Laura for becoming a LifeShaver and taking on her fundraising which such enthusiasm! Well done Laura.”
